Another day, another mountain. Wolfgang called me about going up Esja, but I was visiting my sister first, so we opted for a smaller mountain. (And ended up even smaller)
We headed up to Bláfjöll, to climb Stóra Kongfell, but we ended up just climbing Drottning. Still, we got some exercise, and climbed yet another peak, and we did it just in time for sunset over town.
Excellent clouds today, a whole string looking lot hot air balloons drifting on the wind. It was really neat to get above Bláfjöll. I'd driving up here a lot during winter, and never noticed that there were craters here. And what looks like lots of lava tubes. I need to come back some time with a headlight and have a bit more of an explore.
Lovely! And then, with a hiking companion who lives even closer to town than I do, we could quite correctly stop in for a late night beer.
