I'd ridden around the back hills behind Vifilsstaðavatn the previous summer, but I'd never tried walking up and over the back and down to the picnic area on the back road. It was a nice leg stretch, and I had the place to myself, but it really wasn't a walk I'd recommend :) Lots of traipsing through the summers Lupines. Came down into the lookout though from out of the wilderness, giving a bit of a surprise to the family there. Plenty of mushrooms around, and some early autumn colour.
