Hitt Húsið presents Freaky Friday

Pictures are at the bottom...

Hitt Húsið is a young people's social organization in downtown Reykjavík. It rocks. They provide space and an environment for young people (Up to 25 iirc) to show art, start a small business, get together, perform on stage, drink coffee and everything in between. They run a full program, and it seems to be pretty successful, judging by the number of kids loitering around there during the day and evenings. Seems like a youth group without the supervised overtures. Helping kids do their own thing rather than baby sitting, or so it seems.

Anyway, during the summer, they organised "Freaky Fridays" when for a couple of hours over lunch, there would be all sorts of street theatre of all sorts and shapes. It was fantastic, and I wish I had gotten out to see more of it, and I certainly wish I'd gotten more of it on camera. Very cool. Here's just a sample from one day, showing the sort of breadth and creativity.

Tépokinn, the band, can of course be found on myspace
