Summer sun downtown, plus windy Esja

Pictures are at the bottom...

After Patrekur Frey's christening in the morning, I headed home, but rather than catching up on sleep, like I probably should have done, I decided that the glorious sun outside could not be wasted, and headed over to Austurvöllur to sit in the sun, and read a book. A little while later, I ran into some friends who were already there, and had been for quite a few hours already. Frisbee and balls and bikes and rolling around in the grass being boisterous, this was summer sun the way it should be spent.

During the day I'd seen three weddings, a bucks night and a hens night, and then all manner of groups of all shapes and sizes lounging around like lizards. Fabulous.

In the evening, Guido, Sandra and I had planned on walking up Esja. FÍ was having "esja day" and were planning on having singing and bonfire up the top at 11pm. We tried to talk Wolfgang into coming as well, but he was dog tired after our trip up Hekla the night before, and declined.

Probably for the best. We got a little over a third of the way up before giving up. I simply didn't feel like hiking up in the incredibly windy conditions, when I'd been up there often enough before. They certainly weren't going to be having any bonfires in those conditions. Guido and Sandra followed suit, so after a quiet lounge in the deliciously soft grass, we went back down again.

A final detour to Geldinganes to watch the sunset, and then home! Finally to sleep!
