Mike and I went up to Big Basin for the day, to do the 12 mile Berry Creek Falls circuit. This was a lovely walk, and qutie straightforward. It took us abotu 4.5 hours or so. Along the way we met about 1000 sierra club members, and yes, they were all old, and yes they all had leki poles, some even had 2 of them. It seems the live up to their stereotypes. We also met Rose and Michelle, two local girls, who we went with out a few times since then.
Berry Creek Falls were meant to be the centrepiece of the walk, and are described as "the prettiest sight in the bay area might just be Berry Creek Falls" They're alright, but I think Gold and Silver Cascades just above the falls are much much nicer. Maybe it was the sierra clubbers choking the viewing platform.
