The first weekend in december, the first weekend the resorts were open fully, the first snow trip with the suby. It snowed, and snowed and snowed. My new winterstick hadn't arrived yet, so I had to rent a board from any mountain, a nice burton demo, seeing as I needed strap bindings. We were enjoying cisco's lovely early season deal with the hyatt as well, $49 per night. sweet! Skiied at alpine, where the hyatt deal gives you 2-for-1 lift tickets as well. Bad visibility, shit loads of snow, yet as this was the first big storm, still not enough snow in some areas yet. I was trying 180s and stuff and took a beating on my head that subdued me for the afternoon, then just as I was feeling better, Scott face planted, (He was trying out snowboarding for the first time, he's decided to stick with skiing) and got quite subdued as well. Went back to the hyatt and sat in the hot tub in the snow. luvvverly. Next morning it was snowing even heavier, and visibility on the roads was abominable. (We both had really really sore necks when we got up from our respective accidents the day before too) Got to Alpine just before they closed their approach road. They were closed for teh day doing avalanche control. Too much snow! Headed into Truckee to get lunch before heading home, and just as we were heading out, they closed 80! Not my idea of fun when I was flying back to Australia for 5 weeks the next afternoon. Decided to just go back to incline, book in again at the hyatt, and enjoy the night. So we played some pool, ate some burgers, and slept. The next morning of course, dawned as an absolute pearler of a day. Crystal clear, still, and two days of intense powder before hand. (The weather forecast had this as the only clear day before the storm came back again, we really got lucky) Unfortunately there was to be no powder for us, as I had a plane to catch. Fun trip anyway.
