Frog Falls and Bouloomba Creek

page 1 page 2

A most worthy bushwalk. Frog Falls and then up Bouloomba Creek to Bouloomba Falls. Far far far better than slogging around Kipper Creek. Starts off with some lush green grass under gum trees, then follow a ridge down and eventually into the creek. We didn't quite go the best way this time, Mum had been trying to avoid an earlier mistake, so we ended up going down some pretty steep stuff, at times quite infested with lantana, but we got down to the creek ok.

From there a lovely scramble up the creek. Lots of water, nice and open, swimming holes, the beautiful Frog Falls. A really really beautiful spot. One of the rewards for walking off the track. More cascades, more rockhopping, and even a swim, and we were back up to the breadknife, at the junction of Bouloomba and Peter's Creek. Mum had tried to detour around this part, as she'd not been able to do the climb out of here by herself last time, but her alternative way really wasn't working. The rest of us hadn't had any problems climbing out under the breadknife, but it turns out there's been a rockfall into the pool below, and now you can stand on a rock just below the surface to climb out with. Previoiusly there'd been just a deep smooth walled pool.

A beautiful walk, and then we stayed at Hilary and Erin's place for tea, and ate fish and chips (Yummy!) and looked over Hilary's photos from her NZ moutaineering trip.
