Mike came. We partied. We also did some touristy things. I'd never done the golden circle in summer, so we headed out there on Saturday afternoon. Lovely drive. Took photos of a lovely group of young ladies having a hens day. (On their cameras) Clambered around the rocks at Þingvellirvatn, met up with some hungover Bulgarian colleagues out at Geysir. Had a hearty breakfast of burgers and chips.
Admired the stunning difference in colour on a green and blue sunny summer's day as opposed to winter. Cursed and swore and swore some more followed by a bit of cursing when I realised my batteries had run out. My first time I'd actually been stopped from taking pictures before. I was NOT impressed!
Still, a lovely day. We made it out to Gullfoss just in time for rainbows in the mist, before the sun ducked below the rim. (Coming late does mean you miss the tourists though) Strokkur was glorious in the sunlight. And then of course, home again, out again, out again, out again.
Come on back anytime Mikee, and remember, you don't need to sleep in summer!
