Bridge Out! - An aborted trip to Glymur

Pictures are at the bottom...

After a few weeks without enough exercise, and certainly not enough time in the country, weather and darkness be damned, I was headed out. I got up at the ungodly hour of 9am, and Wolfgang and I headed off to try and get up to Glymur. I was half expecting to be turned back by ice or snow on the higher scrambling portions of the track, but was looking forward to just getting out.

The weather forecast was pretty miserable. Wet, uncertainty in the wind, but at least it was going to be warm. We headed out and had a nice drive out there. And a nice walk, enjoying being outside. No danger of any ice or snow, everything looked like a wonderful outing. The rain was holding off, not much wind, all signs say yes!

Except the bridge was out! Damnit! With no way across the rushing, freezing torrent, and no desire to get even the slightest bit wet in the beginning of November, options were slim. I ruled out walking up the western side, as the view is pretty miserable, so we pretty much called it a day, and headed off to maybe do a walk up Esja instead.

A stop by the whaling station, to see if there were any whales being landed (no) and then just off south.

Ticked off another interesting side road, and found the odd standing stone. Something gained.

Driving south, the weather just turned sour, rain, wind, and lowering clouds, so by the time we were near Esja again, it was time to just go and so some shopping.

Finished the day with a big bowl of miniture waffles!
