Another day, another itch to get out. It was a bit late for big adventures, so I headed out to my local favourite short walk, Helgafell. But I didn't actually go up. I cut across country to an interesting looking ridge, investigating the possibilities of climbable rock, or at the very least, seeing some interesting sights. Saw some rock that might be a bit interesting, even some potential bouldering, but damn lava and eroded moberg can be jagged. Still not much faith in any of it being all that solid either :)
What I did find, surprisingly, was a protected hollow on the far side of this low ridge, with a rock fence, a stile, and a very green secluded copse of trees and bushes. Quite an unexpected sight in the lava landscape around Helgafell.
Another nice sunset, and even moon rise, something that you don't get to see or enjoy much during summer. Gotta be a few rewards for losing the long days.
