Wolfgang and I went to the maritime museum (sjóminjasafnid), a place that is only open on weekends, in the afternoons. 500kr gets you in, and gets you coffee, tea and biscuits as well. We were the first for the day, and quite possibly the last, and the host chatted to us and showed us around part of the museum.
Well set out, most exhibits were in english as well as icelandic, but occasionally missing details in the english version. They also have a library which looked like it might be interesting. And the whole thing is housed in an old fish factory, looking out over the harbour. Quite nice. A beautiful space.
From there we wandered around town in the snow a bit, even found an indoor skate park (closed at the time)
Spotted a tree of birds too. About two-three weeks ago, all of a sudden a tree beside our office was full of these medium sized (a bit smaller than a pigeon) black/dark brown birds, tweeting and screeching and making a lot of noise and flying around in flocks. Who knows where they came from! Rather interesting. We found another tree of them this afternoon.
