777, my birthday, but also a date that captured everyone's imagination. Everywhere you turned people had planned something BIG. I decided to let my birthday slide, maybe host a party of my own choice later in the year, when I could actually expect people to turn up, that sort of thing.
So what did I do? I played golf! I hardly ever play golf. I used to play golf once a month or so in my first year or two of university, with an old primary school friend, but had hardly really played since. It's a fun game, unfortunately often spoiled by green fees and other golfers taking things way to seriously.
Fortunately, the game of golf I played was nothing of the sort. It was a family golf contest, we had 16 people playing in 8 teams, texas scramble, with extra rules like carrying our partners bags on certain holes, singing, and other mischief. I played with Elmar, against Lissy and Runar. We thought we did ok, but we ended up coming in 7th and 8th respectively :) Still, for all that, we still managed to get three awards for landing closest to the green on our tee shots on three of the par 3s!
It was a lovely day, and after getting back to the house, we all lounged around, playing frisbee with the kids, drinking coffee and generally gossipping and solving the problems of the world.
I only took photos around the course, so the rest of the weekend will just have to be imagined :)
I left late in the afternoon, attempting to get out to a friend's band play a concert at Geysir, but I got there too late for that, instead, I enjoyed a bit of a tour on the golden circle, before heading off to a housewarming party with some friends.
