An Árshátið is, loosely, a "Yearly Party" It's just like a work christmas party, only not at christmas. Apparently it's an icelandic tradition. I was on the organising committee, and was in charge of fun and games for the afternoon drive out to Reykholt, where the whole company was staying overnight in a hotel, with a nice dinner, entertainment, and then a dj.

We had apallingly bad weather, probably the worst of the 5 days either side of the trip, for the 3-4 hours that afternoon, so most of the games I had planned for off the bus on the side of the road around the countryside were scrapped. We played some fun games on the bus, one particularly fun one that had each line of seats passing a spoon connected to a ball of wool down their clothes and on to the next player, getting the whole line of people all connected together through a line of wool in their clothes. With four lines of people playing, and racing each other, it was good fun.

We also played unders and overs, with balloons, off the bus at the only stop we made off the bus. Lots of fun as teams let go of balloons momentarily, only to have them snatched by the wind and taken off.
