Lee and Alda's wedding. So many things that could be said, so many things that still need to be said, at the real wedding, with more family, and more suits, and proper speeches, so I'll just leave most of that to there. :) Suffice to say, they're a fabulous couple, and I wish them many happy years of clowning around to come.
The wedding itself, in the sherrif's office just out of downtown was full of excitement. The Bride and Groom picked up the best man, then the maid of honour, and all four, plus Einar Logi, the best dressed of all of us, piled into the same car, and headed out.
Upon arrival, an elevator door attempted to eat Alda, leaving her almost in tears from the pain, and putting quite a look on the lady welcoming us to our appointment. Pain subsiding, we were led off through everyone's worst nightmare of bureaucratic cubicle land, but eventually we arrived at a nicely appointed meeting room. Dark wood floors, candles and even some nice heavy curtains. It was also unbearably hot, and had a grey roof.
Photos from here are few, and for some reason apallingly bad. Iris, who also took pictures says that hers from here are horrible as well. We didn't take many anyway, it was an odd place, sitting in office chairs against the back wall, and listening to the quirky man with his quirky haircut read from a binder of sheets in plastic sleeves.
And just like that, it was over. A piece of paper, and some signatures from the bridal party, and then it was rice in the carpark of a very ordinary administrative building. Time to head to Austurvöllur. This is a beautiful park in the middle of town, and it was a beautiful, beautiful day. We had some cold beers, and took our well dressed radiant brilliance and plonked ourselves down in the park.
Feeling every bit the classy awesome folks that we were, and with a wedding to celebrate, a bottle of cold champagne was procured, and with all our class, we passed it around, while our happy couple took well wishes from all passers.
Time passed, the wind grew cold, and the bottle grew empty, and it was time for the happy couple to head off to dinner with Alda's parents. For the rest of us, the party would reconvene at Alda, Lee and Einar Logi's house at 9:30.
Fast Forward....
Wolfgang, Stefan and I had been for a swim, and arrived late to a party in full swing. The remainder of the photos are just assorted snaps of guests around the house for a while. I don't have all the names, and some people I know, but have just plain forgotten their names. Enjoy them all.
