Friends of ours have an annual family camping trip out to Snæfellsnes, to a not so well known wild camping area by the southern edge of Beserkjahraun. It's a lovely spot, flat green grass by a small creek, nestled in at the edge of the lava flow. We chat, grill food, walk around the area, swim even, and eventually come home again :)
